Site Reliability / Platform Engineer – Chaos Engineering, K6 Performance Testing & AWS Compute Optimization

About the Role:
We are seeking a hands-on engineer with deep expertise in chaos engineering, performance/load testing with K6, and AWS compute optimization across EKS (Kubernetes) and ECS. This role is central to improving the resilience, scalability, and cost-efficiency of our production infrastructure by proactively identifying failure modes, validating system behavior under load, and tuning compute resources for performance and cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Chaos Engineering: Design, implement, and run chaos engineering experiments (e.g., pod/node failure, network latency injection) using tools such as Chaos Mesh, LitmusChaos, Gremlin, or AWS FIS to simulate AZ/region failures.
• K6 Performance Testing: Build and maintain K6 scripts to validate throughput and stability; integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation under varying load conditions.
• Bottleneck Analysis: Analyze results to identify single points of failure, degradation patterns, and produce actionable remediation recommendations.
• AWS EKS Optimization: Optimize node groups, Karpenter/Cluster Autoscaler configurations, HPA/VPA tuning, and workload right-sizing for better performance.
• AWS ECS Efficiency: Manage task definitions, scaling policies (Fargate/EC2), and capacity providers to maximize cost-performance efficiency.
• Cost Optimization: Drive initiatives including Spot/Reserved/Savings Plans strategies, bin-packing, and resource utilization analysis.
• Collaboration & SLOs: Work with DevOps teams to define resilience SLOs/SLIs and embed testing into the software delivery lifecycle.
• Observability: Build dashboards and alerts using CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana for post-experiment reporting.
