Full Job Description
Join Finalsite's Site Reliability Operations (SRO) team as an Operations Engineer in Chennai, India. You will play a crucial role in the daily monitoring, maintenance, and support of our robust infrastructure and deployed products. Working closely with Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), you will implement operational best practices, diagnose and resolve issues, and ensure the high availability and performance of our systems hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This hybrid role requires a solid understanding of operational processes, cloud environments, and effective collaboration with technical teams. Candidates must be comfortable working on a 24/5 shift basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor system performance, availability, and alerts across AWS and GCP using established monitoring tools.
- Respond to incidents and alerts, conduct initial troubleshooting, and escalate issues to SRE engineers and other technical teams as necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patching, updates, and backups, following established operational procedures. Prepare reports and provide updates on ticket resolutions.
- Address escalations and requests from support, product development, and professional services teams across various global locations and time zones.
- Support the deployment of new applications and infrastructure components by adhering to documented procedures and collaborating with SRE engineers.
- Maintain and update operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Partner with SRE engineers to identify opportunities for operational enhancements, automation, and efficiency improvements.
- Assist in managing and optimizing cloud costs and resource utilization from an operational standpoint.
- Ensure strict adherence to security policies and procedures in all operational activities.
- Provide valuable feedback to SRE teams regarding operational challenges and requirements within our multi-cloud environment.
- Work effectively within a 24/5 shift environment, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operations role supporting production systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and GCP, along with basic LINUX command-line proficiency.
- Experience with observability, monitoring, and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic.
- A foundational understanding of networking concepts within cloud environments.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues.
- Experience executing documented operational procedures with a strong emphasis on attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse technical and non-technical teams. Strong English proficiency is mandatory.
- A proactive and curious mindset, eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes in a multi-cloud landscape.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Administrator.
- Experience with scripting languages to automate operational tasks.
- Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
- Experience working within an Agile development environment.
