Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer

About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Site Reliability / GitOps Engineer for its Information Systems team. This position offers an automation-first technologist passionate about Linux an opportunity to drive success in public and private cloud environments using Ubuntu and open-source products.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive operations automation within both private and public clouds utilizing best-of-breed open source Infrastructure as Code (IaC) software.
• Leverage CI/CD pipelines to improve Canonical's products and provide critical feedback on how they operate at scale, including submitting bugs and collaborating with developers via pull requests.
• Work within a global team of SREs supporting over 60 million Ubuntu users.
• Apply IaC experience to continuously increase automation and improve processes across private/public clouds.
• Automate software operations for re-usability and consistency, considering distributed system complexities.
• Develop new features improving the resilience and scalability of Canonical's cloud and container portfolio.
• Maintain operational responsibility for core services, networks, and infrastructure.
• Cultivate skills in troubleshooting, capacity planning, performance investigation, and maintain observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
• Collaborate with development teams to design service architecture, documentation, playbooks, policies, and procedures.
• Work with globally distributed engineering peers on time-critical escalations.
• Receive uninterrupted development time for larger projects and manual task automation.
