Site Reliability Engineer I

Role Overview:

CME Group seeks an entry-level Site Reliability Engineer I (SRE) for its Customer portfolio. This opportunity allows you to learn from the ground up how to build, operate, and scale systems that deliver low-latency performance and rock-solid reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work alongside senior engineers to build observability, monitoring, and alerting for key services.
• Partner with product teams to understand scalability needs for new features under mentorship.
• Create scripts and tools to reduce toil and improve engineering velocity.
• Contribute to a culture of blameless post-mortems for continuous improvement.
• Aid in disaster recovery planning and systems resiliency testing.
• Support the migration of Customer and Clearing applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Potentially participate in on-call rotations after training periods, supported by senior staff.

We're Looking For:

• A passion for technology and a desire to build a career in Site Reliability Engineering.
• Foundational programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Bash).
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a curious mindset.
• Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
• An eagerness to learn rapidly within our fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with cloud concepts (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of Linux-based systems and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Interest in monitoring tools like Prometheus or Grafana.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, TCP/IP).
