Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Consultant for a remote, contract role. You will build reliable, observable systems enabling client teams to operate with confidence at scale.

About the Team

You'll work embedded within cross-functional developer, platform engineering, and operations teams across our global network of clients. As we scale from 4 to 8-12 SRE engineers over the coming months, you will mentor onboard new hires while driving improvements in uptime and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Reliability Engineering: Take ownership of system reliability across our full backend stack (AWS: ALB, ECS/Fargate, Aurora) to Python services. Design observability systems, define SLAs/error budgets, build incident response processes, and drive uptime improvements.
• Incident Management: Participate in 24/7 P0 on-call rotations with a strict 10-minute acknowledgment SLA. Lead investigations, postmortems, and help teams shift from reactive firefighting to proactive reliability engineering.
• Mentorship & Scaling: Mentor and onboard additional SRE engineers as the team scales; advise leadership on reliability strategy and operational excellence approaches.

Technical Requirements

• Experience: 7+ years hands-on in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering at scale.
• AWS Expertise: Deep proficiency with ALB, ECS/Fargate, RDS Aurora, Lambda, IAM.
• Python Backend: Strong production experience debugging and optimizing Python services in containers and Lambdas.
• Observability: Hands-on design of metrics, logging, tracing (OpenTelemetry), and alerting solutions aligned with business needs.
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi; CI/CD pipeline management.
• Containerization: Solid understanding of Kubernetes and Docker deployment automation.
