Experience Level: Senior Level
Full Job Description
Havells Centre for Research & Innovation (CRI) in Noida, India, is seeking a highly skilled Electromagnetic Simulation Engineer to bolster its switchgear design and development team. This role is critical for advancing the performance, reliability, and safety of switchgear components through sophisticated low-frequency electromagnetic modeling, multiphysics simulations, optimization, and validation. You will utilize cutting-edge tools and deep domain expertise to accelerate virtual prototyping and inform crucial design decisions.
Key responsibilities include applying a strong grasp of low-frequency electromagnetic fundamentals, Maxwell's equations, and FEM theory. You will develop and analyze low-frequency EM simulation models for ACB, MCCB, RCB, and MCB components using industry-standard software like ANSYS Maxwell and MotorCAD. Building accurate FEM models to predict magnetic flux, losses, core saturation, thermal distribution, and breakdown behavior is essential. The role also demands expertise in predicting and analyzing electromagnetic forces, handling transient excitations, and performing dynamic simulations. You will execute multiphysics simulations, including electromagnetic-thermal and electromagnetic-mechanical couplings, to assess operational stresses and thermal profiles. Crucially, you will validate simulation outcomes against experimental data and test reports, calibrating models for real-world accuracy. Optimization of component geometry, materials, coil configurations, and system efficiency using tools like OptiSLang, MATLAB, and Python scripts will be a key part of the role. Collaboration with mechanical design, thermal, controls, testing, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle is expected. You will be responsible for preparing detailed simulation reports, FEM documentation, BOM inputs, and design review materials. Optional contributions may include supporting field activities such as installation, calibration, commissioning, and troubleshooting using simulation insights. Exposure to EMI/EMC simulations, electronics reliability assessment, and failure-mode analysis will be beneficial. Experience with AI integration in simulation workflows, including Deep Learning and Generative AI-based modeling, is a significant advantage.
Qualifications include an M.Tech / MS in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Electromagnetics, or a related discipline. A minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in electromagnetic simulations is required. Proficiency in tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, MotorCAD, COMSOL, OptiSLang, MATLAB, and Python is essential. A strong understanding of switchgear components, circuit protection concepts, and power system behavior is also necessary.
