Role Overview
Qualcomm India is seeking a Staff Engineer, Silicon & Data Automation Systems. This senior individual contributor role focuses on building production-grade automation, data pipelines, and engineering tools to improve silicon yield workflows. The position requires an AI-first mindset, leveraging LLM-based coding agents while maintaining full human ownership of correctness and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Automation & Production Engineering: Design and maintain Linux-based automation services, data loaders, and backend systems that enhance efficiency in design, DFT, diagnostics, and yield engineering.
• Data Systems: Build robust SQL pipelines to collect, transform, and validate manufacturing and test data. Ensure high-quality, traceable datasets for decision-making.
• AI-Assisted Engineering: Integrate LLM-based agents into daily workflows to accelerate development and troubleshooting while adhering to strict production safety standards.
• Tooling & Integration: Develop web apps, APIs (Django/REST), dashboards, and CLI utilities using Python or similar languages to solve manual engineering pain points.

Nearly Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in CS/Electrical Engineering with 4+ years experience, OR PhD with 2+ years.
• Expert proficiency in Linux administration, shell scripting, and operational debugging.
• Strong Python skills for backend automation and data processing.
• Advanced SQL knowledge including schema design, query optimization, and relational database management.
• Proven experience using AI tools (LLMs) to enhance engineering productivity with critical human review capabilities.

Near Preferred Qualifications:

• Semiconductor industry background involving DFT, validation, yield data (STDF/KLARF), or wafer mapping.
• Experience with Oracle/PL/SQL and enterprise database environments.
• Familiarity with observability tools like Splunk and batch compute systems (LSF/Grid).
