Full Job Description
24 Seven Talent is actively seeking a skilled Separation Artist for Screen Printing to join a dynamic team in Tampa, FL. This crucial role focuses on preparing and optimizing production-ready color separations for licensed apparel, ensuring all artwork meets rigorous requirements for accuracy and consistency across high-volume production programs.
Key responsibilities include the creation, editing, and finalization of color separations for various print methods such as screen print, digital, and specialty prints, encompassing simulated process, spot color, and index applications. The artist will meticulously ensure separations align with approved art, brand standards, and licensor guidelines, including league rules, trademarks, and precise color matching. Production-ready files will be prepared with attention to detail regarding line weights, trapping, underbases, overprints, halftones, and print callouts.
This role demands proactive identification of potential technical risks in incoming artwork, flagging issues related to printability, color counts, fabric types, or press limitations. Close collaboration with Production Art, Manufacturing Art, Sampling, and external vendors is essential for troubleshooting print challenges and implementing swift resolutions. The Separation Artist will be instrumental in supporting sampling, pre-production, and bulk production timelines by adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and seasonal deadlines.
Maintaining consistency and accuracy across a multitude of styles, SKUs, and seasonal updates is paramount. The artist will also be responsible for updating or adjusting separations based on revisions, corrections, or feedback from licensors. Adherence to established workflows, naming conventions, and file management standards is expected, along with a contribution to process improvements aimed at reducing rework, errors, and production delays.
Qualifications include:
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in color separations for apparel or related print manufacturing.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- A strong understanding of screen-print production, including inks, underbases, trapping, halftones, and fabric considerations.
- Proven experience supporting high-volume, fast-paced production environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and robust quality control instincts.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Preferred qualifications:
- Working knowledge of licensed or branded product workflows.
- Experience with sports licensing (e.g., NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA).
- Familiarity with overseas manufacturing and vendor handoff requirements.
- Knowledge of digital print, hybrid print methods, or specialty inks.
- Experience working with PLM or workflow management systems.
