Senior/Staff Java Engineer

Mindera is seeking a Senior/Staff Java Engineer to join our team in Chennai, India. You will play a key role in building scalable, cloud-native distributed systems using modern Java, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work across APIs, messaging platforms, cloud services, and containerized environments to deliver resilient backend services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Java 17+ or 21.
• Implement and optimize REST and OpenAPI-based services.
• Leverage Kafka for event-driven and streaming architectures.
• Develop microservices utilizing containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), Azure, and modern cloud patterns.
• Efficiently utilize SQL & NoSQL databases for scalable data access.
• Implement reliable testing strategies, including the use of Test Containers.
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
• Work with GraphQL (GQL) endpoints as needed.
• Ensure strong system observability through monitoring and logging frameworks (Dynatrace experience is a plus).
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, production-grade systems.

Requirements

Must Have

• Extensive hands-on experience with Java 17+.
• Proven experience building modern APIs (REST / OpenAPI).
• Solid understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with Kafka.
• Knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency with Gradle as a build tool.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services.
• Working knowledge of GitHub Actions and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with observability tools for logs, metrics, and tracing.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Reactive Programming (Project Reactor, RxJava).
• Experience with Test Containers.
• Experience with GraphQL (GQL).
• Exposure to enterprise observability platforms such as Dynatrace.
