About the Company
We are a venture-backed B2B fintech with under 30 people, based in Texas. Our software handles credit and collections for businesses that sell goods to other companies—determining payment terms, sending reminders, and matching invoices. The founders have deep domain experience from running their own similar business.
The Role
You will own the systems moving a distributor's money: payments, credit decisions, collections, and AI agents acting within them. You take features from customer conversations to production in our flat team of individual contributors using Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and React.
Our stack includes Cursor and Claude Code for development. Your tasks include building payment flows, integrating with customers' ERPs (like NetSuite and Sage), implementing LLM features safely with evals and guardrails, managing data pipelines for millions of financial records in near real-time, improving collections automation, and participating directly on customer calls.
Unsolved Challenges
We are letting agents act on money without human intervention at every step. We match incoming checks to invoices and post results into legacy ERPs reliably enough that the credit team trusts it fully. This role involves writing playbooks for these complex systems from scratch.
Responsibilities
- Build and run payment processing systems and financial APIs.
- Connect products to distribution ERPs in both directions.
- Ship LLM-powered workflows: credit decisions, remittance matching, customer communication, and dispute handling.
- Develop evals, monitoring, and guardrails for safety when real money is involved.
- Own data pipelines moving millions of financial records near real-time.
- Improve collections automation and measure impact on cash flow.
Requirements
- Shipped user-facing features end-to-end (front-end, backend, schema, tests) in the last two years.
- Deep backend experience with Ruby on Rails, Django, or Spring Boot and PostgreSQL in production.
- Experience designing schemas, running migrations, and optimizing slow queries.
- 5+ years as a backend-leaning full-stack engineer at companies under 100 people shipping fast product.
- Daily use of AI coding tools with awareness of their limitations.
