Senior Wintel Engineer

About the Role

Title: Senior Wintel Engineer | Department: Information Technology

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and support Linux (RHEL) operating systems with exposure to UNIX flavours like RedHat & AIX.
• Resolve major incidents and technical escalations within agreed SLAs and quality standards.
• Perform root cause analysis for problems and major incidents, provide workarounds to ensure business continuity and prepare RCA reports.
• Prepare Implementation plan, rollback plan and test plan, risk and impact analysis for critical or complex changes.
• Review the change plan and documentation prepared by level 2 engineers or peers.
• Participate in CAB meetings as needed and assist change manager in techno-operations decision process.
• Oversee installations of hardware and software, maintain appropriate service levels, performance tuning and firmware upgrades across multiple hardware platforms.
• Perform advance tasks such as capacity planning, performance monitoring, provide recommendations for improvement and implement or oversee implementation of the recommendations.
• Handle system software upgrades including planning / scheduling, testing, coordination, and maintaining integrity of operating system environment.
• Harden operating system parameters in line with security policy, standards or best practices.
• Respond to outages both during normal business hours and after-hours on a need basis (on-call support).
• Documentation, knowledge sharing and training of junior members.
• Coordinating and interfacing with outside vendors, application teams, other department team members, and OEMs to resolve issues.
• Analyse data, oversee and contribute to service improvements.
• Oversee tasks executed by junior members and stand in for them if needed.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) / Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)
Post-Graduation: Master of Science (M.Sc) /Master of Technology (M.Tech) / Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

Experience

10 – 18 years.
