Senior Systems Engineer

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, to lead the development of innovative medical technologies. This role involves applying extensive technical expertise to solve complex software, hardware, and systems challenges, requiring ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed with significant autonomy and latitude in defining technical objectives.

Position Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives in Release Product Management, including design changes, supply chain improvements, critical component replacement analysis, and CAPA support.
• Design, develop, test, and document software, hardware, and system components and applications.
• Lead the definition and development of user needs, business needs, use cases, requirements, and system architecture.
• Lead the analysis and modeling of design solutions to ensure fulfillment of needs, use cases, requirements, and system architecture.
• Provide leadership in planning and conducting user evaluations of product concepts.
• Provide leadership in identifying and addressing technical risks, product hazards, and failure analysis.
• Apply clinical knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques.
• Serve as subject matter expert for the system and its components to internal and cross-business development teams.
• Support and troubleshoot system component integration.
• Provide technical expertise in the support and maintenance of existing products.
• Ensure adherence to Medtronic and other quality standards, including design procedures and compliance requirements.
• Interface with all project team members, including engineering (mechanical, electrical, software, systems, and test), quality, regulatory, marketing, technical communications, end users, technical support, production, and suppliers.
• Support labs and surgical evaluations of products, and represent the company at industry trade shows and customer sites.
• Participate in and lead ongoing professional development activities.
• Lead the identification and implementation of process improvements.
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to assume increased responsibility.
• Lead the organization, estimation, scheduling, resourcing, and completion of project milestones.
• Perform duties in compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Travel: Occasional international and domestic travel may be required (less than 25%).

Basic Qualifications

Education Required

• BE/ BTech/ME/MTech in Electronics/Instrumentation/Systems or a relevant engineering specialization.

Years of Experience

• 12+ years of development and Systems Engineering experience.

Specialized Knowledge Required

• Strong knowledge of software, hardware, or system design, development, troubleshooting, and test practices.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills and mentoring capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to its success.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the medical device industry and/or surgical techniques.
• Experience in Systems Engineering related to stakeholder needs definition, use case workflows, requirements definition and decomposition, functional architecture, system modeling, and system design.
• Experience planning and conducting user evaluations of product concepts, analyzing data, documenting methods and results, and presenting design recommendations.
• Experience with software design, algorithm design, GUI design, and iterative software development practices.
• Familiarity and experience with Matlab, Linux, C++, or scripting languages.
• Experience with mechanical and/or electrical design, mechanical/electrical drawings, tolerance analysis, and computer-aided design (CAD).
• Ability to apply creativity to solve complex problems without known solutions.
• Ability to quickly prototype new concepts and ideas.
• Ability to assess new technologies through comprehensive reviews of the state-of-the-art.
• Project management skills, including leading teams and planning/estimation of tasks, milestones, resources, and budget.
