Senior Survey Programmer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Survey Programmer for our Market Research Team. This position involves setting up and programming complex market research questionnaires into web-based platforms with custom design, conducting QA on programmed survey work, and aligning hours with US-based colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Microsoft Word-formatted market research questionnaires into the Qualtrics online survey platform with high quality and timeliness.
• Configure routing, custom display logic, and termination logic to ensure relevant respondents are targeted appropriately.
• Ensure questions and supporting media (video, images) are displayed accessibly, clearly, aesthetically pleasingly, and engagingly for respondents.
• Leverage web-oriented programming languages (Javascript/JQuery, HTML/CSS) to create custom question designs, back-end logic, or display functionality within Qualtrics.
• Contribute to accessible libraries of Javascript examples to enable consistent execution of custom designs by less technical staff.
• Recommend adjustments for unclear specifications that may confuse respondents.
• Conduct quality assurance on programmed surveys prior to launch.
• Manage and upload third-party translations, ensuring correct display for end respondents.
• Communicate with project managers via instant messaging, video calls, and platforms regarding status updates and edit requests.
• Coordinate with fieldwork teams to maintain necessary quotas.

Requirements

• 7+ years experience in programming market research surveys (Qualtrics strongly preferred; Decipher/Forsta, Alchemer, Sawtooth, Versive also accepted).
• Ability to interface with internal teams, translate specs into programmed surveys, and communicate timing expectations.
• Experience with JavaScript/jQuery, HTML, and CSS for custom question types or presentations.
• Comfort implementing complex survey design elements (conjoint analysis, maxdiff, least-fill randomization).
• Strong QA experience on surveys and designing robust QA workflows.
• Ability to consult on best practices and flag designs that may be difficult for end-respondents.
