Senior Substation Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior Substation Engineer at Switch, you will lead the design and delivery of high- and medium-voltage (HV/MV) infrastructure supporting hyperscale data centers. You will focus on substation and utility interconnection projects ensuring reliable power delivery across campuses.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead HV/MV substation project designs from concept through construction support for major US-based clients.
• Coordinate with utilities, consultants, vendors, and internal teams to align requirements within the United States market.
• Develop Basis of Design documents, specifications, and engineering standards compliant with NEC, NFPA, ANSI, UL, and utility regulations.
• Evaluate protection/control systems for performance and reliability in mission-critical environments.
• Prepare RFPs for consultants and vendors; review calculations to support project decisions across US locations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a required Professional Engineer (PE) license recognized in the United States.
• 4–7 years of experience designing HV/MV substations and utility interconnection infrastructure within North America.
• Familiarity with protection systems, NEC/NFPA codes, and working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
