Senior Staff Engineer

About the Role:

Join Spreetail as a Staff Engineer leading the technical foundation of our new multi-tenant Third-Party Logistics (3PL) platform. You will operate as a founding technical leader, building one-of-a-kind systems from scratch that manage client onboarding, inventory, warehouse operations, order fulfillment, and billing for external merchants.

Impact & Ownership:

Your work directly determines Spreetail's ability to reliably sell 3PL services. You will bring deep ecommerce domain expertise to build an AI-native platform featuring demand forecasting, automated exception handling, and anomaly detection woven into core workflows rather than bolted on later.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and ship a scalable multi-tenant 3PL platform capable of distinct catalogs and fulfillment rules per client.
• Build reliable core systems for inventory management, order routing, and warehouse operations.
• Create fast, low-friction onboarding processes through configurable, reusable components.
• Deliver accurate, real-time visibility into inventory and orders for both internal ops teams and external clients.
• Construct self-healing fulfillment pipelines with clear SLAs.
• Leverage AI-driven automation to reduce manual intervention in exception handling (mis-ships, returns, billing disputes).

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a hands-on backend engineer comfortable working in a fast-moving 0-to-1 environment. You should have 6–8+ years of experience building production systems and leading technical direction (design reviews, mentorship). Experience with ecommerce order management or logistics is highly valued.

Technical Skills:

• Strong fundamentals in APIs, data modeling, databases, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with AWS and cloud-native service design.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (queues, streams).
• Proven track record of testing, debugging, and production support.

Domain & AI Exposure:

We value exposure to EDI standards or 3PL/WMS integration patterns. Experience integrating ML model outputs into application logic is a strong plus for those interested in growing their expertise in e-commerce logistics.
