Senior Staff Engineer

Join Freshworks as a Senior Staff Engineer Data Scientist specializing in Generative AI (GenAI) to spearhead innovative data science and machine learning applications in customer support and employee engagement. You will drive the use of GenAI to solve complex challenges, including analyzing time-series data for anomalies using classical ML techniques. Envision the future of IT services: interactive, conversational, and informed by real-time streaming data analysis. Your role will be to build algorithms for processing millions of data points and develop scalable, high-performance systems to deliver these insights through a next-generation conversational UI/UX.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product and business teams to understand GenAI challenges and opportunities, aligning data science initiatives with organizational goals.
• Define key performance metrics for GenAI solutions to accurately measure end-user value.
• Apply expertise in machine learning, statistics, and advanced mathematics to design and experiment with GenAI-powered intelligent systems.
• Develop efficient systems for processing large-scale data, utilizing distributed programming frameworks like Hadoop and Spark.
• Partner with ML Engineers to architect scalable systems and models for real-time ML/AI services.
• Manage end-to-end ML pipelines, from data preprocessing and model generation to cross-validation and feedback loops.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Strong problem-solving and programming skills, with a deep understanding of ML algorithms, including probability, statistics, linear algebra, calculus, and optimization.
• Proven success in deploying ML projects in production environments with significant individual contributions.
• Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks, including prompt engineering, LLMs, transformers, and knowledge graphs is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in time series analysis, NLP, Distributed Systems, large-scale computing, and Big Data technologies like Spark is a plus.
• Solid background in at least three of the following: NLP, statistical ML, graph algorithms, constraint optimization, signal processing, deep learning, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL database systems and schema design.
