Senior Software Engineer

The Search Team at Postman enables users to quickly discover and utilize APIs within the Public Network. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep backend expertise in search systems (ElasticSearch, OpenSearch), ETL pipelines (Kafka, Spark/Flink), and AI/ML ranking to lead our platform's core initiatives.

• Own the end-to-end architecture of distributed indexing pipelines and high-performance web servers.
• Improve search relevance through signal engineering and advanced data models.
• Maintain system performance for growing data volumes while managing business risks.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to drive cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in high-level programming languages (primarily Python or JavaScript).
• Hands-on expertise with search engines like ElasticSearch/Apache Solr/OpenSearch.
• Experience orchestrating batch/streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka, Kinesis, and AWS Lambdas.
• Familiarity with compute engines such as Apache Spark, Flink, or Ray.
• Demonstrated strength in AI/ML, Natural Language Processing, Ranking Systems, or Recommendation Engines.
