Senior Software Engineer

Company Overview

In this role as part of the Privileged Access Managed team at Bitwarden, you will help build and maintain Rust SDKs used across multiple product lines. The position focuses on creating secure, reliable native experiences for Windows, macOS, and Linux using FFI and language bindings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evolve the shared Rust SDK including language bindings and FFI consumed by desktop and browser clients.
• Interface directly with OS-level APIs on Windows, macOS, and Linux to deliver reliable native behavior while handling sensitive credential data securely.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and the Autofill team to ensure high-quality end-to-end experiences.
• Review pull requests and contribute to improving systems engineering quality through community contributions in GitHub.
• Identify technical debt and lead pragmatic refactoring efforts.
• Independently plan and deliver new feature work and bug fixes within a zero-knowledge, encrypted product environment.

Required Qualifications

• 4-6+ years of backend/systems experience with strong production Rust knowledge including FFI and language bindings.
• Native desktop application development expertise interfacing directly with OS-level APIs on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
• Experience designing and versioning cross-platform SDKs shared by multiple client surfaces.
• Familiarity with AI tooling in development workflows (Anthropic Claude preferred).
• Bonus: Experience with Electron, TypeScript, and web technologies for desktop applications and web clients.
