Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

This Senior Software Engineer, Observability role is pivotal in empowering organizations through Autonomous Endpoint Management and delivering exceptional customer outcomes. You will contribute to moving IT and Security teams from manual, reactive processes to intelligent, proactive operations by developing and maintaining robust observability solutions. Your work will directly influence customer experience, enhance product reliability, and support scalable, resilient systems within a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain observability tools, including monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions.
• Deploy and manage platforms like Azure Application Insights (AppInsights), New Relic, Prometheus, and Grafana for comprehensive system visibility.
• Utilize OpenTelemetry for telemetry data collection and export, enabling distributed tracing for enhanced debugging and insights.
• Implement structured logging, optimize metric collection, and improve system performance monitoring.
• Build and refine alerting mechanisms to reduce Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) and minimize false positives.
• Contribute to scalable monitoring solutions within AWS and Azure cloud environments.
• Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to integrate observability best practices into CI/CD pipelines.
• Document runbooks, dashboards, and best practice guides to facilitate knowledge sharing and support ongoing observability initiatives.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in observability, monitoring, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles.
• Hands-on experience with Azure AppInsights, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, and cloud-native monitoring in AWS and Azure.
• Proficiency with OpenTelemetry, AppInsights APM, and distributed tracing concepts.
• Experience in Kubernetes/container monitoring and infrastructure automation (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
• Scripting skills for automation using Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell.
• A solid understanding of Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and incident management frameworks.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for knowledge sharing and supporting team members.

Preferred Skills

• Advanced Python programming capabilities.
• Experience with AIOps, predictive analytics, log aggregation pipelines, and event-driven architectures.
• Specific experience with Azure, AKS, and AppInsights for telemetry and performance monitoring.
• Relevant certifications in observability tools or cloud platforms (e.g., Azure).
• Familiarity with FedRAMP observability requirements.

Career Progression

• Within 3 months: Gain proficiency in Ivanti products and observability frameworks, resolve observability issues, and actively collaborate with the team.
• Within 6 months: Contribute to observability frameworks, develop dashboards, create observability code for a product, and engage with stakeholders.
• Within 12 months: Play a significant role in FedRAMP observability initiatives.
