Senior Software Engineer

Role Summary

The Senior Node Software Engineer is a technically senior, backend-focused individual contributor leading the Node sub-team's technical direction, architecture decisions, and code quality standards. The role involves deeply hands-on design, development, and delivery of Evry Health's backend platform.

About This Role

Centers on building Node.js and TypeScript services, Next.js API routes, and the underlying data layer with a system-level perspective covering performance, security, scalability, and healthcare regulatory compliance. Engineers partner with frontend and mobile teams but do not own frontend development.

Responsibilities

• Backend Architecture & System Design: Lead architecture of backend services/APIs, async/real-time processing, rate limiting, resiliency, and data modeling (relational/document).
• Senior-Level Backend Feature Development: Own design/implementation of complex features using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Node.js Services & Next.js API Development: Design/implement complex routes, authentication, caching, messaging, and database designs enabling stable interfaces for frontend/mobile teams.
• Technical Leadership & Mentoring: Provide day-to-day leadership to the Node sub-team including code reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
• Performance, Testing & CI/CD Ownership: Optimize performance, manage testing strategy, and govern CI/CD pipelines for HIPAA-compliant services.
