Senior Software Engineer

Overview

The Windows + Devices Fundamentals team improves the reliability, performance, responsiveness, battery life, memory efficiency, and overall health of Windows devices. We build and operate services that transform telemetry signals into trustworthy metrics for engineering improvements.

About This Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead data-driven systems revealing how Windows devices behave at scale in Hyderabad, Telangana. You will shape metric strategy, architect backend pipelines, and influence investments across silicon and customer segments.

Responsibilities

• Lead definition of metrics for reliability, performance, power, memory, and storage.
• Architect scalable services for telemetry ingestion, transformation, and analytics.
• Establish high standards for security, compliance, observability, and incident response.
• Analyze large-scale data to identify trends and customer impacts.
• Investigate metric movements using statistical methods and debugging tools.
• Deliver automation, AI-assisted analysis, and diagnostic workflows.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams globally.

Qualifications

Required:Bachelor's in Computer Science + 8+ years experience with C#, Java, Python, or similar. Three+ years of backend/data engineering experience required.

• Demonstrated success building production services and data pipelines.
• Solid skills in software design, debugging, and statistical reasoning.
• Experience with Windows internals, distributed systems, and fleet analytics.
• Familiarity with Azure, Kusto, Power BI, machine learning, and anomaly detection.

Tech Stack

C#, Python, C++, SQL/KQL, PowerShell, WinDbg, WPA, ETW, Azure Services. Experience with AI/ML for engineering analysis is a plus.

Other Requirements

This role requires passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
