The company is developing a sophisticated software stack comprising microservices, RESTful APIs, and data integrations with both internal and external systems. This ecosystem aims to provide seamless and elegant user experiences within the complex field of oncology diagnostics and therapeutics. Their technology facilitates connections between patients and clinical trials, assists clinicians in ordering tests and receiving reports, and provides valuable genomic datasets to researchers for uncovering insights into treatment strategies and drug discovery. The technology stack utilizes a variety of tools including Java, Python, Ruby, Node, React, Kubernetes, Docker, MuleSoft, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, high-performance computing clusters (HPC), and AWS services.
The Software team is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in developing the next generation of the Guardant Oncology Portal. This portal will serve physicians, care teams, patients, and researchers, with the engineer's expertise significantly influencing product design and architecture. The role involves close collaboration with leading doctors and researchers dedicated to improving global healthcare.
As a member of the software team, you will:
- Prioritize customer experience, focusing on usability, user interface design, and change management for the user ecosystem.
- Design, develop, document, deploy, and support the Guardant Oncology Portal software ecosystem.
- Analyze complex requirements, create straightforward designs, and validate them with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Build and maintain a valuable ecosystem of services and applications.
- Lead technical design discussions within and across teams.
- Create design and implementation artifacts to guide development and support.
- Write efficient, reusable, and scalable code, adhering to or creating necessary frameworks and practices.
- Develop and maintain automated tests for regular releases.
- Participate in the testing process through review, analysis, witnessing, and certification.
- Provide second-tier production support.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of enterprise full-stack software development experience in a fast-paced, agile environment with a focus on test automation and continuous integration.
- 6+ years of experience working with user-facing applications and championing seamless UX/UI.
- 6+ years of experience with ReactJS or other front-end JavaScript frameworks.
- 6+ years of experience developing production software in Java.
- 6+ years of experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs using RAML, Swagger/OpenAPI.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with data modeling, schema development (relational and NoSQL), data management, ingestion, and processing.
- 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services or other cloud services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of distributed and scalable systems.
- Deep understanding and proven track record of utilizing contemporary architectural patterns and methodologies such as microservices, serverless, CQRS, and DDD.
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
Desired (but not required):
- Knowledge of Ruby on Rails.
- Experience in the healthcare industry.
- Understanding of laboratory operations, regulations, and compliance in the healthcare industry.
- Experience working with or integrating commercial off-the-shelf platforms like Salesforce, Oracle ERP, or others.
