Senior Software Engineer

Wärtsilä is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Full Stack Development, with a focus on Master Data Automation and API Development, for its Information Management (IM) organization in Navi Mumbai, India. This role is crucial in driving the transition towards a decarbonised and sustainable future by developing and implementing innovative IT solutions.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key player in backend development, database management, cloud operations, and DevOps practices, all within an Agile framework. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, stakeholders of Master Data Automation, and both internal and external experts to translate business needs into robust technical requirements. Your primary focus will be on designing, implementing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services, ensuring high code quality, data security, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Translating business needs into technical requirements by collaborating with Product Owners and Stakeholders.
• Designing and implementing solutions using RESTful APIs, adhering to industry best practices.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code for API development and automation tasks.
• Conducting code reviews to ensure high quality and foster knowledge sharing.
• Developing APIs using FastAPI and scripting with JavaScript and Node.js.
• Implementing robust API security measures, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and documenting lessons learned.
• Staying updated with the latest technological advancements and best practices in API development.

You are a technology-driven and solution-oriented Full Stack Developer eager to embrace continuous learning. You possess strong backend and API development experience, with a proactive approach to improving applications and workflows. While comfortable with routine tasks, you also enjoy tackling new challenges. You have experience or willingness to learn front-end development with React, HTML, and CSS. A service-minded attitude, strong teamwork skills, and excellent problem-solving abilities are essential. You are adept at generating reports, have a keen attention to detail, and prioritize data privacy and compliance. Balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and identifying opportunities for process improvement are key to your success.

Qualifications and experience:

• Approximately 7 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years as a Full Stack Developer experienced in backend development using Agile methodologies.
• Extensive experience in Python and proficiency in API development.
• Extensive experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and MSSQL.
• Good to have experience with front-end development (React) and scripting skills (Node.js).
• Knowledge of SAP OData and Manufacturing domain is advantageous.
• Proven track record with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and scalable environments like Kubernetes.
• Work experience with DevOps, GIT, CI/CD pipelines, and Atlassian tools (Bamboo, Jira, BitBucket, Confluence).
• Proficiency in application maintenance, monitoring, analysis, reporting, and unit testing.
• Good understanding of Master Data Automation, Master Data Management, and security principles.
• A Post Graduation or Graduation degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Applications.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
