Senior Software Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team with a focus on Batch Processing. This critical role involves building scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines that power enterprise-wide analytics, machine learning, and business decision-making at massive scale.

• Contribute to the team's vision and articulate strategies for fundamental impact at our massive scale.
• Demonstrate a product-focused mindset by understanding business requirements and architecting systems that extend as needed.
• Diagnose complex problems in distributed systems, develop technical solutions, and sequence work for fast, iterative delivery.
• Build and maintain high-performance, fault-tolerant scalable distributed systems.
• Ideate and drive innovative projects to improve user experience.
• Provide solid leadership through data-driven approaches, robust designs, and effective delegation.
• Participate in design reviews with peers and stakeholders to adopt best-suited technologies.
• Review code from other developers to ensure adherence to style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
• Automate cloud infrastructure, services, and observability (AWS preferred).
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and testing automation.
• Maintain best engineering practices through thorough reviews and improved processes.
• Groom junior engineers through mentoring and delegation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.2-6 years of experience in data engineering / backend engineering.
• Strong experience with Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala), SQL, large-scale data processing, and batch pipeline development at scale.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or equivalent.
• Strong programming skills in Python / Java / Scala.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Hudi.
• Familiarity with data governance tools (data catalog, lineage systems).
• Knowledge of streaming systems like Kafka or Flink.
• Awareness of data security best practices including PII masking and encryption.
