Senior Software Engineer (Data Platform Team) - Hyderabad, India

About the Role:

The Data Platform team at Warner Bros. Discovery powers data-driven experiences across global products like Max and Discovery+. The team builds and operates a scalable, multi-tenant data ecosystem enabling analytics, real-time insights, and machine learning use cases. Key Responsibilities & Impact:

• Architectural Leadership: Design and develop major data infrastructure components; set standards for data modeling, pipeline architecture, and system design.
• Innovation & Strategy: Drive innovation in real-time processing, observability, and modern data infrastructure while balancing immediate business needs with long-term strategy.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product, analytics, and engineering stakeholders. Mentor junior engineers on design, coding, and operational best practices to elevate team productivity.
• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot production issues by reviewing logs and metrics; identify root causes and implement learnings for continuous improvement.

Tech Stack & Requirements (5-9 Years Experience):

• Languages/Frameworks: Proficient in Python/Scala/Java with deep expertise in distributed processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Flink.
• Pipeline Orchestration: Mastery of tools such as Apache Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
• Cloud & Data Lakes: Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure (S3, Redshift, Databricks) and lakehouse formats like Delta Lake/Iceberg.
• Streaming & AI/ML Integration: Hands-on experience with Kafka/Kinesis for real-time streaming. Familiarity with agentic AI systems, AWS Bedrock/SageMaker, model fine-tuning (LoRA), and evaluation frameworks.
