Senior Software Engineer

We are a top-tier, VC-funded Silicon Valley startup specializing in AI-native web products. We are looking for a hands-on engineer who excels in ambiguous environments, delivers solutions rapidly, and takes ownership of systems from architecture through to production.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and scale production APIs and UIs, prioritizing reliability, security, and performance.
• Manage production services, including monitoring, debugging, and incident response.
• Develop and optimize LLM-powered features, encompassing RAG, agents, prompt pipelines, and evaluations.
• Design robust REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs with comprehensive authentication, versioning, and observability.
• Collaborate effectively with product and design teams, and mentor fellow engineers.

Success Metrics (90-180 Days):

• Deliver reliable, user-facing features.
• Enhance API resilience and improve the quality or cost-efficiency of AI retrieval/memory.
• Elevate engineering standards through improved documentation and tooling.

Requirements:

• A strong systems mindset, including understanding SLOs, error budgets, and graceful degradation.
• Proven experience with databases (Postgres, KV/vector DBs) and performing zero-downtime deployments.
• Practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and an understanding of model tuning trade-offs.
• A security-first approach and excellent API design skills.
• Demonstrated self-drive, curiosity, and readiness for a startup environment.
