About the Job
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Cards Integration team at Mercury.
Mercury powers spending for customers via debit and credit cards. When a customer taps their card, transactions flow through merchant terminals, acquirers, and card networks directly to us in milliseconds. In that time, we verify balances, apply spend controls, screen for fraud, and authorize or decline the transaction.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead projects from concept to launch with product managers, engineering leads, and teammates.
- Dive into card infrastructure: learn how authorization, clearing, settlement, and disputes work under the hood.
- Build full-stack features connecting customer-facing experiences to backend money-moving systems.
- Maintain excellent observability for our highly reliable systems (four nines).
- Mentor engineers through design reviews and code reviews to raise quality standards.
About You
You will need strong full-stack experience, a product mindset, and the ability to make architectural decisions on complex systems. Success requires attention to detail when failure has real financial consequences.
Our tech stack includes Haskell and TypeScript (or you must be eager to learn). Bonus points for fintech or payments background.
Compensation
- US Employees:$166,600 - $208,300 USD
- Canadian Employees:$157,400 - $196,800 CAD
