This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (Social Listing) based in India.
This is a senior full-stack engineering role focused on building scalable systems for social publishing, monitoring, and AI-powered customer experiences.
You will own critical systems and large features end to end, from technical discovery and architecture through production rollout and optimization.
The role combines distributed systems engineering, high-volume data processing, media pipelines, frontend development, and third-party platform integrations.
You will work with complex social APIs, asynchronous architectures, large datasets, and production-grade AI technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
• Own critical subsystems and large product features from problem discovery and technical design through development, rollout, monitoring, and impact measurement.
• Lead major technical initiatives and drive architecture, implementation strategy, rollout plans, and post-release improvements.
• Proactively identify scalability bottlenecks, reliability risks, performance issues, technical debt, usability gaps, and operational inefficiencies.
• Design and operate reliable distributed systems using message queues, background workers, schedulers, retries, idempotency, caching, and high-volume third-party APIs.
• Anticipate edge cases, failure modes, rate limits, API changes, scalability requirements, and downstream dependencies before they become production issues.
• Evaluate architectural and technology trade-offs across scalability, reliability, maintainability, cost, development velocity, and customer impact.
• Build large-scale data pipelines that ingest, enrich, process, and serve social data and metrics from multiple sources.
• Develop infrastructure that enables fast analytics and actionable insights from high-volume social data.
• Build and operate media-processing capabilities covering image and video upload, transformation, optimization, generation, storage, and delivery.
• Develop backend APIs and customer-facing frontend experiences with strong attention to performance, usability, accessibility, and overall customer experience.
• Build production-grade AI capabilities using LLMs, embeddings, RAG, tool calling, image and video generation, and agentic workflows.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI and intelligent technologies to product capabilities, engineering productivity, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Prototype and validate AI-driven solutions through measurable outcomes and production-oriented experimentation.
• Promote Test-Driven Development and strong automated testing practices to reduce defects and increase release confidence.
• Own production quality through observability, monitoring, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and permanent corrective actions.
• Raise engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, documentation, testing practices, and maintainable architecture.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to stronger technical decision-making through design discussions, reviews, prototypes, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate effectively with product and engineering stakeholders to ensure technology decisions remain aligned with customer and business outcomes.
Requirements
4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and operating production systems, ideally within SaaS products operating at meaningful scale.
Proven experience independently owning complex or business-critical features or services from design through production.
Strong experience building distributed systems using message queues, background workers, schedulers, retries, idempotency, caching, and high-volume third-party API integrations.
Extensive experience integrating with external APIs and managing rate limits, authentication, token lifecycles, webhooks, retries, API version changes, partial failures, and unreliable external dependencies.
Strong ability to proactively identify and resolve issues involving scalability, reliability, performance, maintainability, and technical debt.
Strong understanding of system design and the ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs, edge cases, dependencies, and long-term technical implications.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
Experience applying Test-Driven Development or similarly disciplined automated testing practices.
Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js; hands-on experience with NestJS is preferred.
Experience developing customer-facing web applications using Vue.js, React, Angular, or similar modern frontend frameworks.
Good understanding of UI/UX principles and the ability to identify and address usability gaps.
Experience with MongoDB and Redis and data-intensive applications.
Experience with large-scale data ingestion, ETL/ELT, analytics, or data warehousing using technologies such as ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Elasticsearch.
Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications using LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG, image/video generation, tool calling, or agentic workflows.
Ability to move AI capabilities from prototypes into reliable production systems with appropriate evaluation, observability, guardrails, cost controls, and failure handling.
Experience using AI-assisted software development tools thoughtfully while maintaining ownership of architecture, security, quality, and correctness.
Strong customer-first and product-oriented mindset, with the ability to select technology based on desired customer and business outcomes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead technical discussions and clearly explain architectural trade-offs.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed and remote engineering environment.
