Full Job Description
About the Role: This is a **Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE 3)** position focused on **Backend & Agentic Systems** in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. You will take on a **70% solo ownership** role while contributing **30% collaboratively** on high-impact projects. Your responsibilities include designing and architecting complex features for autonomy, data logging, and reliability—expecting High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) from day one. You will own and extend production backend systems, driving greenfield builds for the **Recipe Engine, cloud infrastructure, and AI/agentic systems**. Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, you’ll join a backend team of four within a 12-person engineering organization.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and architect autonomous features, data logging, and reliability systems (HLDs and LLDs expected immediately).
- Own and extend the core backend stack for autonomous operations at scale.
- Build and maintain agentic workflows for recipe creation, feedback analysis, and internal tooling.
- Develop code-intelligence tooling for internal agents, including AST-based chunking, LLM-driven graph extraction, and hybrid retrieval (BM25 + graph + rerank).
- Improve retrieval accuracy through chunking, embeddings, and a benchmark-driven, eval-first approach.
Required Skills:
- Strong system design fundamentals (HLD, LLD, SOLID principles) with hands-on experience in production LLM/agent systems (RAG pipelines, agent loops, tool calling/MCP).
- Experience with retrieval data layers, vector databases, chunking strategies, embeddings, and hybrid retrieval.
- Proven ability to tune and improve existing RAG/retrieval pipelines (building from scratch is a plus).
- Familiarity with AWS (primary stack).
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with knowledge graphs or graph-based retrieval (Neo4j or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with code-intelligence/retrieval frameworks (Cognee, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack).
- Prior exposure to AST parsing or code-aware chunking strategies.
