Senior Site Reliability Engineer

This position emphasizes observability, automation, and cross-functional collaboration, rather than direct code development. Your primary goal will be to ensure that metrics, logs, and dashboards provide actionable data for rapid identification and resolution of system issues. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred, alongside strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Terraform. Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting for automation is essential, as is a solid understanding of Linux system internals and system limits. Familiarity with load balancing concepts, cloud infrastructure stack fundamentals, and production environments for SQL and NoSQL databases is also required.

Responsibilities include building, automating, and maintaining dashboards and monitoring systems for over 30 microservices. You will work with existing observability tools like New Relic and Google Cloud Observer, driving migration towards Grafana and Prometheus. Automating the collection, processing, and visualization of logs and metrics will be key, ensuring consistent reporting. Collaboration with service owner teams to understand their monitoring needs and implement effective solutions is crucial. You will troubleshoot production issues by analyzing dashboards, logs, and metrics, aiding in root cause identification without code changes. Monitoring SQL and NoSQL databases and integrating their metrics into dashboards is expected. Ensuring observability solutions offer a consistent user experience for quick system issue identification, and automating dashboard deployment and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code are also vital aspects of this role.

We seek candidates with 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or in a similar capacity. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred), Kubernetes, and Terraform is a must. Proficiency with Prometheus and Grafana platforms, along with Python and Shell scripting for automation, is required. A solid understanding of Linux system internals and system limits, knowledge of load balancing concepts, and cloud infrastructure stack fundamentals are also necessary. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases in production environments is essential.

Nice to have skills include experience building queries for Big Data analysis and integrating them into dashboards, as well as knowledge of incident management frameworks, SRE best practices, SLIs/SLOs, and error budgets.
