Senior SDE II

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product owners to design software solutions that seamlessly integrate into the daily workflows of researchers.
• Develop and implement intuitive, visually appealing user interfaces that significantly enhance the overall user experience.
• Execute comprehensive testing and validation of all written code, contributing to the continuous improvement of development practices at SciSpace.
• Oversee and manage large-scale projects from initial concept development through to final release.
• Address and resolve complex browser compatibility issues, particularly those encountered in collaborative text editing environments.
• Establish and maintain a robust ecosystem of coding standards and reusable libraries to support and guide junior developers.
• Actively monitor the performance and availability of shipped features to ensure sustained operational excellence.
• Take full ownership of the codebase, driving its consistent improvement and scalability over time.
• Engage actively in agile development processes, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-up meetings.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to established best practices.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to uphold code quality standards and facilitate knowledge sharing among team members.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the front-end architecture remains scalable and sustainable.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, assisting them in navigating and resolving complex technical challenges.
• Lead the adoption and implementation of new front-end technologies and frameworks as required.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for front-end codebases and development practices.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Senior Frontend Engineer, ideally within a research-focused, product-based, US-based startup environment.
• At least 4 years of experience contributing to small- to medium-sized teams, with a proven track record of building challenging features using React/Next.js.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and experience with styling libraries such as Tailwind CSS.
• Solid understanding of best practices for integrating backend systems via APIs and for designing robust front-end component architectures and systems.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of codebases and implement continuous improvements.
• Strong command of browser fundamentals and a deep understanding of Single Page Application (SPA) performance, including Core Web Vitals (CWV) metrics.
• Comfort in navigating ambiguous problem statements and effectively collaborating with product partners to define and finalize requirements.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and their integration with front-end components.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting.
