Senior Sales Engineer - Snowflake - Mumbai, India

As a Sales Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to provide crucial technical expertise, ensuring Snowflake customers achieve their goals. This role demands a diverse skill set encompassing data architecture, ETL/ELT processes, data science, security, performance analysis, and analytics. You'll be instrumental in identifying customer business challenges and articulating how Snowflake provides the optimal solution. Your ability to communicate this vision effectively to both technical and executive audiences, coupled with your technical prowess in building demos, executing proofs-of-concept, and offering consultative guidance on architecture and implementation, will be key to your success.

We are looking for individuals who are proactive and dedicated to the success of Snowflake and its customers. This includes staying abreast of the latest advancements in data and analytics technologies to serve as an authoritative resource for both Snowflake and our clientele. You will foster collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Present Snowflake's technology and strategic vision to executive and technical stakeholders at prospective and existing customer organizations.
  • Engage hands-on with prospects and customers throughout the sales cycle, from initial demonstrations and proof-of-concepts to architectural design and implementation, showcasing the value of Snowflake.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of competitive and complementary technologies and vendors, positioning Snowflake effectively against them.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to drive continuous improvements in Snowflake's products and marketing strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advocate, building strong, reciprocal relationships with technical contacts at customer sites.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in a customer-facing sales engineering (technical pre-sales) role.
  • Proven expertise in modern data stacks, ETL/ELT, data warehousing/lakes, data science, and data applications.
  • Exceptional presentation skills, capable of engaging both technical and executive audiences effectively, whether through impromptu whiteboard sessions or polished presentations and demonstrations.
  • Hands-on proficiency with SQL; knowledge of Python is considered a valuable addition.

Strongly Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge in Data Science.
  • A university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in software development, including languages like Java, Spark, and other scripting languages.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience with large-scale database technologies (e.g., Netezza, Exadata, Teradata, Greenplum, Hadoop) and cloud data platforms.
  • A successful track record in selling data and/or analytics software to enterprise clients, including demonstrated ability to identify key stakeholders, craft compelling value propositions, and establish effective sales cadences.
  • A solid understanding of and experience within the Indian market and its technology ecosystem.

  • Significant experience and expertise in Data Science, AI, and ML across various platforms.
  • Familiarity and practical experience with common Business Intelligence (BI) and data exploration tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Metabase).
  • Experience with major cloud providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native services like AWS S3, AWS Glue, AWS SageMaker, or Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Database Migration Services.
  • Experience in OLAP data modeling and data architecture.
  • Experience selling enterprise SaaS software.
  • A proven history of success at enterprise software start-ups.
