Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Python Data Engineer to join our Developer Platform Insights team in Bangalore, India. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in SQL-based ETL development, cloud data engineering (preferably Google Cloud Platform - GCP), and business intelligence solutions. This pivotal role involves the creation and maintenance of scalable, analytics-ready data products designed to support critical areas such as cloud cost management, incident tracking, developer productivity insights, and comprehensive platform usage analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines utilizing SQL and Python/Java.
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
- Develop and maintain robust data models to effectively support Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting requirements.
- Architect and implement advanced data solutions leveraging BI tools like Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Extract and integrate data from various sources including cloud providers, infrastructure systems, and third-party vendors.
- Ensure high standards of data quality, implement data governance practices, and optimize for performance.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Support the development of standardized leadership reporting and facilitate self-service analytics capabilities.
- Contribute significantly to data architecture decisions and the establishment of best practices.
- Monitor and optimize cloud cost and performance metrics.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Demonstrate 2 to 4 years of progressive experience in Data Engineering or a closely related field.
- Exhibit strong, hands-on experience in SQL-based ETL development.
- Show proficiency in Python, Java, or a comparable scripting language.
- Possess hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as:
- Google Cloud Platform (Preferred)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Microsoft Azure
- Snowflake
- Have experience with BI tools including Looker, Tableau, Power BI, AtScale, or similar.
- Maintain a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets is essential.
- Accumulate at least 1 year of experience specifically in Data Architecture.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Possess excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud cost analytics.
- Proven experience in building analytics-ready data products.
- Exposure to DevOps/DataOps practices.
- A solid understanding of data governance and data modeling best practices.
