Full Job Description

Skillz is seeking a Senior People Business Partner to join our team in the Greater Bengaluru Area. This role is pivotal in supporting our rapidly scaling organization and driving impactful people initiatives.

About the Role

As a Senior People Business Partner at Skillz, you will be instrumental in shaping the employee experience and supporting our business leaders. You will work closely with department leaders to enhance retention, mitigate regrettable attrition, and proactively address people-related risks through data-driven strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Business Partnership: Serve as the primary People Business Partner for your assigned department, collaborating with leaders to achieve strategic people objectives.
  • Performance & Talent Programs: Own and manage the full performance management lifecycle, including 30/90-day reviews, annual performance cycles, and talent planning.
  • Leader Enablement & Coaching: Act as a trusted advisor to managers and senior leaders, providing coaching on performance, engagement, employee experience, and sound people decision-making.
  • Employee Lifecycle Support: Lead onboarding, off-boarding, and address day-to-day people needs, functioning as a hands-on individual contributor closely aligned with business leadership.
  • People Operations & Process Improvement: Drive and contribute to People Operations initiatives, focusing on process enhancement, program scaling, and identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, impact, and cost-effectiveness.

What We're Looking For

  • HR Business Partnership: A strong foundation in performance management, talent development, leadership effectiveness, and organizational health within fast-scaling environments.
  • Influence & Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to build credibility with leaders, provide constructive challenges, coach through change, and partner effectively across functions.
  • Program Design & Execution: Demonstrated success in designing, launching, and scaling people programs (performance, engagement, retention) with a focus on data, outcomes, and continuous improvement.
  • Organizational Design & Change Leadership: Comfort in operating hands-on, balancing strategic thinking with operational rigor, and driving sustainable transformation at speed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum 8 years in People / HR roles, with at least 6 years in an HR Business Partner capacity.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior leaders (VP+) to influence decisions in a matrixed, high-ambiguity, high-growth environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting technical teams, managing end-to-end performance management, including onboarding/off-boarding and day-to-day people operations.
  • Experience working with US teams is highly preferred.
