You will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge devices and accessory tools, including the design and fabrication of intricate systems for our biology, optics, and microfabrication teams. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical design, precision engineering, and a passion for creating solutions for challenging neuroscience problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build implantable systems utilizing micro-component integration.
- Design and construct compact optomechanical systems for advanced applications.
- Develop and fabricate custom surgical or medical equipment tailored to specific needs.
- Create and execute comprehensive Verification and Validation (V&V) protocols and fixtures.
What You Bring:
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design.
- A robust understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software, with a strong preference for Solidworks.
- Demonstrable fabrication skills; please showcase your past projects.
- Proven experience in developing optomechanical systems, encompassing precision mechanical design and optical manufacturing techniques.
- A deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in Class III medical device development.
- Hands-on experience or management of third-party CNC and Injection Molding processes.
- Exposure to microfabrication techniques.
- Expertise in fluidics and/or microfluidics circuit design and fabrication.
- Experience in machine or equipment design.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers and basic board layout.
- Proficiency in simulation tools, including FEA for stress/strain, thermal analysis, and/or flow simulations.
- Experience working with surgical or biological requirements.
- Knowledge of polymer processing techniques.
