Senior Manager, Contract Specialist - Agile Sourcing

Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Contract Specialist within the Agile Sourcing team will provide industry-leading contracting capabilities. This role involves efficient contract review, issue identification and analysis, redlining, negotiation, and managing escalations to the legal department. You will collaborate effectively across multiple markets, manage a high workload with demanding deadlines, and operate independently with speed and diligence. Resolving complex negotiation issues and driving contracts to execution are key. Building strong, trusting relationships with internal business clients, contracting teams, and legal is essential. The primary goal is to ensure effective negotiating and contracting activities that support company objectives. This position reports to the Director, International Contracting.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end contracting process, supporting operations across multiple markets with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Conduct due diligence, identify issues, and assess risk mitigation options.
- Execute contracts efficiently, ensuring legal support and compliance with company standards.
- Analyze contracts and negotiate business/commercial terms to advance BMS’ interests.
- Clearly explain contractual risks and implications to business stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Manage multiple complex projects independently.
- Ensure adherence to written guidelines, company policies, and required SME input (e.g., privacy, finance, taxation, customs, trade, information security, systems quality, software asset management).
- Maintain awareness of pre-contracting steps and related BMS policies and procedures.
Stakeholder Partnership and Issue Resolution
- Serve as a trusted advisor to global category managers and leadership, ensuring procurement strategies align with business expectations.
- Facilitate and lead complex contract negotiations in partnership with business stakeholders, global procurement category managers, legal, and subject matter experts.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, compliant, and efficient contract facilitation.
- Identify escalation points for Agile Sourcing regarding contracting and procurement policy and operational questions.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Share best practices and learnings with the Agile Sourcing team to proactively meet business needs in a collaborative and compliant manner.
- Collaborate with procurement and legal to develop and maintain contracting guidance documents.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the contracting capability within Agile Sourcing through training and skill development.
- Participate in procurement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen contracting and sourcing outcomes.
- Explore new procurement technologies, focusing on AI/ML opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Legal Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in areas such as enabling services, commercial, R&D, global product supply, procurement, sourcing, and contracting. This includes drafting, redlining, reviewing, and negotiating procurement/business contracts and familiarity with Master Services Agreements.
- Experience collaborating with and influencing cross-functional and global teams within a matrix structure.
- Expertise in procurement processes, agreement management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning, and integrated supply chain.
- Expertise in contract construction and terms and conditions, with a strong preference for experience facilitating, drafting, and negotiating buy-side and other in-scope contracts within the pharma/biotech industry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with diplomacy and a strong customer focus.
- High adaptability in ambiguous and complex work environments, balancing multiple demands professionally. Proven ability to engage and inspire teams in a constantly changing environment.
- Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) technology (e.g., Icertis) is beneficial.
