Senior Java Engineer

Join Send's Technology / Delivery team as a Senior Java Engineer in Bengaluru, India. This full-time, permanent role offers a remote work option for candidates based in Bengaluru. You will be a key member, collaborating with customers to configure and tailor our underwriting workbench. Your responsibilities will include implementing customer configurations, extending existing services, and ensuring smooth delivery of our SaaS platform to a growing client base.

You will work with modern Java technologies within a microservices architecture, partnering with Delivery, Product, and Engineering teams to translate customer requirements into robust, scalable solutions. This role involves contributing to process improvements, maintaining high code quality, and ensuring reliable, performant outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java.
• Build scalable and performant microservices using Spring Boot and modern frameworks.
• Work with relational databases, particularly MySQL.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests (JUnit, Spock, Cucumber).
• Troubleshoot and debug issues.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and support deployment automation.
• Contribute to architectural discussions.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong Java development experience, particularly in backend web applications.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Java Engineer.
• Proficiency with Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA, and Hibernate.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL preferred).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and best practices.
• Solid understanding of software development best practices, including unit testing and code quality.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset and a pragmatic approach.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote-first environment.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with AWS and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Exposure to Apache Camel.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps tools.
• Prior experience in the insurance industry or with insurance-related software.
