Senior Java Developer

You will own backend services that process large, complex mortgage documents at scale, designing pipelines that integrate LLMs to ensure production systems are fast, accurate, and cost-effective. This hands-on senior role involves making architecture calls and setting the quality bar for engineers on your team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build high-throughput document pipelines with asynchronous, parallel processing, batching, retries, backpressure, and idempotent reprocessing for large data volumes.
• Leverage the latest LLMs by managing API timeouts, token/cost controls, response validation, and implementing automatic failover between providers.
• Engineer resilience using circuit breakers, fallback chains, and graceful degradation to prevent single upstream failures from taking down pipelines.
• Debug production issues such as extraction failures, latency spikes, and cost regressions by investigating root causes via dashboards and metrics.
• Elevate the team by reviewing PRs, breaking features into clear tasks, unblocking junior engineers, and writing robust design docs suitable for cross-timezone collaboration.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of hands-on Java development (including 2+ years owning a production service).
• Expertise in Core Java, specifically multithreading and concurrent architecture design.
• Strong proficiency with Spring Boot/Spring Data for microservices and REST architectures.
• Familiarity with NoSQL DBs like MongoDB and relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Excellent debugging skills, data structure knowledge, and the ability to reason about trade-offs in cost, latency, and accuracy.
• Mentoring experience or a proven track record of guiding junior engineers.
