Senior Fullstack Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Pear Deck Learning team, an all-in-one platform supporting every instructional step. Our suite includes Pear Start for lesson planning, Pear Deck for real-time participation and feedback, Pear Practice for gamified learning, and Pear Assessment for versatile testing.

• Design and build features across the full stack serving hundreds of thousands of teachers globally.
• Develop high-performance backend services using Node.js (Express) and Go (gRPC).
• Create accessible frontend experiences with React 18, TypeScript, Redux Toolkit, and react-hook-form.
• Architect REST and gRPC APIs for real-time data in a service-oriented architecture.
• Leverage a polyglot data layer including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, SQS/SNS, and Pub/Sub.
• Operate real-time infrastructure using WebSockets, server-sent events, and Firebase Realtime Database.
• Integrate LLM/AI services like OpenAI and Google Gemini for content generation and moderation.
• Develop integrations with Google Slides, Classroom, Drive, Microsoft Teams, Office add-ins, LTI, and SIS rostering (OneRoster, Clever).
• Maintain well-tested code using Vitest, Jest, and Go's testing stack within CI pipelines.
• Modernize legacy surfaces by migrating to current standards like React 18 Vite without disrupting users.
• Deploy services on AWS (ECS, Aurora) and GCP (GKE/Kubernetes), utilizing Docker, Terraform, and Helm.
• Monitor performance with Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus/Grafana while participating in production support rotations.
