About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help our core platform scale reliably as message and API volumes grow across SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS channels. You will join an elite engineering team of three to take full ownership of scaling problems in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Scale messaging and API workloads to handle significantly higher throughput under increasing traffic loads.
• Optimize queue-driven processing, including delivery pipelines, retry mechanisms, rate limiting, and webhook handling using BullMQ + Redis.
• Enhance database performance through advanced query design, indexing, partitioning, and connection pooling strategies.
• Strengthen system observability, reliability, and fault tolerance across distributed services.
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks via profiling, load testing, and continuous monitoring.

Tech Stack:

We build with Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js, REST APIs, Drizzle ORM, BetterAuth, PostgreSQL on DigitalOcean, pnpm. Our frontend utilizes React.js, Zustand, NextUI, Tailwind CSS, and Zod for validation.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Proven hands-on experience scaling high-throughput, queue-based systems (BullMQ, Redis).
• Expertise in PostgreSQL: indexing, query tuning, partitioning, connection pooling.
• Ability to diagnose and fix production performance issues independently.
• Comfortable owning problems end-to-end in a rapid-paced startup environment.
• Familiarity with telecom/messaging (SMS, WhatsApp, RCS), voice solutions, or CPaaS products is highly desirable.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture, webhooks, rate limiting/throttling policies.
• Knowledge of horizontal scaling patterns, Docker/Kubernetes orchestration, and cloud infrastructure like DigitalOcean.
