Senior Engineering Lead

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Engineering Lead to own our backend and Generative AI architecture. In this working technical lead role, you will direct (not necessarily hand-build) both our data and frontend layers while running a Python-based Django/FastAPI backend with LLM-powered agentic pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership:

• Manage and mentor cross-functional teams of backend (Python) and frontend (React) developers in Mumbai.
• Own the technical roadmap for GenAI systems and direct frontend architecture decisions collaboratively with leads.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Data Science to define technical scopes.

• Backend & Generative AI:

• Design Python backend services (Django/DRF, FastAPI) and maintain RESTful APIs.
• Build multi-agent systems using CrewAI or equivalent frameworks, covering task decomposition, tool use, memory, and RAG within our AIA™ architecture.
• Develop NL-to-SQL interfaces for conversational analytics powered by LLMs.
• Optimize PostgreSQL and MongoDB performance in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
• Maintain data processing pipelines using Pandas, PySpark, and Dask.

• Frontend Direction:

• Set technical direction for React/TypeScript development and state management (Redux or Context API).
• Guide the creation of sophisticated data-dense dashboards using Apache ECharts and D3.js.
• Enforce standards for frontend performance, including rendering optimization and efficient data handling.

• Delivery & Operations:

• Run code reviews across the entire stack.
• Own CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies (Pytest/Jest/Cypress), and deployment processes.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis for production issues.
• Manage technical debt to ensure long-term codebase health.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with deep backend expertise.
• 3+ years managing or leading a development team.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, Django, and FastAPI.
• Hands-on production experience building agentic systems including RAG, embeddings, and vector database integration.
• Strong SQL skills with focus on query optimization and NL-to-SQL implementation.
• Working knowledge of React/TypeScript to review architecture and make direction calls (daily UI builds not required).
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including performance tuning and multi-tenant considerations.
• Experience owning CI/CD and deployment pipelines.
• A track record leading teams through delivery of data-intensive production applications.
