About the Role: Senior Engineer, Sustainability
Eaton's Center for Sustainability at EIIC Pune is seeking a driven Senior Engineer to contribute to organizational progress in sustainability. This position will support Eaton's global sustainability initiatives by developing and implementing methodologies and tools focused on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting, and circularity assessments. These efforts are crucial for achieving Eaton's 2030 sustainability goals across its supply chain, manufacturing operations, and product development.
The successful candidate will work closely with technical specialists, managing multiple projects independently. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and deploying environmental accounting tools and methods within business processes for supply chain, manufacturing, and product development.
- Monitoring and adapting to external trends, regulations, and evolving standards in LCA and sustainability, including topics like EU Taxonomy, ESPR, avoided emissions, GHG reporting, data exchange standards, science-based targets, net-zero, and circularity standards.
- Responding to customer inquiries regarding sustainability information and ESG reporting frameworks such as CDP and EcoVadis, by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Mentoring and developing junior team members to enhance skills in LCA and GHG accounting.
- Collaborating with the corporate sustainability team to refine sustainability strategies, monitor progress towards goals, and support corporate reporting.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sustainability, or Environmental Science/Technology/Management.
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience in LCA, eco-design, and corporate sustainability. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience in LCA, Eco-Design, and corporate sustainability.
Skills:
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) or carbon accounting standards. This may be demonstrated through:
- Hands-on experience with 5+ LCAs.
- Accreditation as a Certified LCA Practitioner (ACLCA), Critical Reviewer for LCA (ISO 14040/44), or Registered EPD Verifier.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals on LCA/Ecodesign/sustainability.
- Application of GHG Protocol (Scope 1, 2, 3 accounting) and ISO standards for Carbon Footprints.
- Broad understanding of sustainability domains, including:
- Sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, SDG).
- ESG reporting and rating standards (MSCI, FTSE, DJSI, Ecovadis, TfS).
- Operations sustainability: environmental management systems, EIA, energy efficiency, green buildings (LEED).
- Water footprinting, water risk assessment, climate risk assessment, environmental valuation, life cycle costing, and social impacts.
- Sustainable finance, renewable energy, carbon pricing mechanisms, EU taxonomy, and SDGs.
- Product stewardship and chemical regulations (REACH, RoHS, TSCA, ELV, WEEE).
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following is advantageous: ESG reporting, energy efficiency standards/auditing, renewable energy project development, or energy monitoring implementation.
- Experience with dashboard development, automation, and modeling skills is a plus.
