Senior Engineer

As a Senior Engineer specializing in Cyber Security with Zscaler expertise, you will play a vital role in advancing NielsenIQ's network security posture. This position is based in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and implement improvements to security controls, threat detection capabilities, and reduction of attack surfaces.
• Develop and deploy innovative network-based security solutions.
• Lead Proof of Concept (POC) initiatives and contribute to the evaluation and selection of new security products.
• Review network security requests and modifications, providing expert advice and consultation.
• Collaborate with Enterprise IT to establish and enforce best practices across global networks.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for internal teams, technical users, and end-users.
• Provide secondary support for endpoint security software (EDR, AV, content filtering, SWG) as needed.
• Engage with vendors to drive product enhancements and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Develop and deliver training materials for non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and guide junior members of the security team.
• Serve as an escalation point for high-severity incidents, ensuring rapid resolution.
• Champion and support organization-wide initiatives to embed foundational security principles in all technology deployments.

Qualifications

• 6 to 10 years of hands-on experience with network analysis and security tools, including packet capture and analysis, next-generation firewalls, web application firewalls (WAF), web proxy/SWG, routing/switching, DNS, application and transport layer networking, TLS/SSL decryption, VPN, IPS/IDS, certificate management, and wireless technologies.
• Proficiency with security tools such as Zscaler, CheckPoint Firewalls, F5 LTMs, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint network protection, F5 WAF, and Azure WAF.
• Expert understanding of the OSI model.
• Experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Secure Web Gateways (SWG), and other Zero Trust architectures, concepts, and technologies.
• Fundamental knowledge of endpoint security tools (EDR, AV) and their role in a defense-in-depth strategy.
• Ability to directly support incident response teams and actively participate in ongoing IR investigations.
• Knowledge of advanced hacking techniques, threat actor methodologies, Indicators of Compromise (IOCs), and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), with the ability to translate intelligence into actionable security measures, is desirable.
• Proven experience managing changes in enterprise production environments.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
• Ability to manipulate large datasets using tools like Excel, Power BI, and SQL.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
• Demonstrated self-starter attitude, with a passion for technology and security.
• A Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, Physics, Science, or equivalent) is preferred; equivalent experience in government, military, or related fields may be substituted.
