Senior Electrical Engineer

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, AZ, supporting critical mining projects. This role is vital for the planning and design phases, where you will offer expert technical guidance and leadership on complex, multi-disciplinary projects. As a key technical advisor, you will contribute specialized input to studies and designs, develop high-quality, cost-effective work procedures, and participate in interdisciplinary reviews. You will mentor entry-level engineers, develop construction cost estimates, and independently manage detailed engineering assignments. Your responsibilities include problem-solving using modified standard procedures, identifying and presenting solutions for discrepancies, and serving as the lead electrical engineer on mid- to large-scale projects. You will work with minimal supervision to complete primary design elements, perform quality control reviews, and develop comprehensive calculation packages for electrical equipment sizing. Reporting will involve creating detailed Microsoft Word documents with technical results, summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations. Early project design work, including conceptual studies, load analysis, equipment selection, datasheets, and general arrangements, is essential. You will also develop design documents, equipment specifications, and vendor data requirements, conduct technical bid analyses, and review vendor shop drawings according to industry codes and project-specific needs. This role demands effective communication with clients, supervisors, and team members, providing project leadership, coordinating staff on designs and specifications, and contributing to engineering budget and schedule development to ensure project success within scope, time, and budget.
