Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Centers
Bechtel Corporation is expanding its long-standing partnership with Reliance, offering Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for the proposed “Jamnagar DC Complex” project. This significant initiative will be managed from India, with personnel located in Gurugram, Vadodara, and Chennai.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a background in FEED, proposal, and detailed engineering, ideally within the EPC industry. This role requires expertise in manufacturing units, data centers, and building/utility projects. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Indian, US, Euro, and other international codes/standards, as well as local practices.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and approve critical engineering drawings, calculations, and design documents.
- Prepare or oversee the creation of discipline estimates and work plans, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage their implementation and performance.
- Coordinate electrical engineering activities in assigned areas with specialized teams, other engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, construction teams, and other functional groups.
- Maintain communication with client representatives, suppliers, field personnel, and other disciplines as directed to ensure work coordination and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements.
- Supervise the daily technical work of discipline engineers, specialists, designers, and drafters.
Education and Experience Requirements
- A degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience on-site is considered a significant advantage.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in understanding main single line diagrams, protection and metering diagrams, relay setting, system protection coordination, UPS sizing, cable sizing, and grounding.
- In-depth knowledge of Electrical system studies using ETAP software, including short circuit, load flow, and motor starting analysis.
- Experience in equipment sizing, specification development, Material Requisition (MR) preparation, technical bid evaluations, and vendor print reviews for various electrical equipment such as HV GIS, Busduct, Switchgear, MCCs, Transformers, DC systems/UPS, and Cables.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems related to equipment including HVAC, Chilled Water Systems, Condenser Water Systems, Pump controls, Glycol systems, Air Handling Units (DX, split, RTU, CRAC, etc.), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), Raised Floor Systems, and HOT/COLD aisle containment.
- Understanding of Building Power Management interfaces, including the control and monitoring of building mechanical and electrical equipment such as HVAC, lighting, power systems, fire systems, access control, and security systems.
- Familiarity with electrical layouts including Substation Equipment, raceways, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection.
- Experience reviewing 3D models using Autodesk Revit with SPR or Navisworks, and conducting model reviews with clients.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.
