Senior DevOps Engineer

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Assent’s Cloud Operations and Engineering teams to design, develop, and implement robust continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) solutions. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining development and testing environments, as well as creating and managing configurations for all supporting software deployments. A key aspect of this role will be leading the automation and streamlining of our code integration and deployment operations and processes.

You will operate within a high-trust CI/CD environment where every commit is deployed to production. This necessitates that your code is highly testable, reliable, and production-ready, with a strong emphasis on taking full ownership of system quality.

• GitHub for version control and collaboration
• Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD systems that support high-frequency, reliable deployments.
• Write Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and manage secure, scalable cloud environments.
• Maintain and manage AWS Resources, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Cloud Ops teams to design, implement, and support scalable infrastructure and services.
• Enhance observability using OpenTelemetry, New Relic, and Kibana.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Develop strategies for scaling infrastructure to accommodate future growth, including capacity planning and load testing.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Ensure systems comply with security best practices and corporate policies.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, characterized by proactive, clear, concise, and tactful communication.
• A post-secondary degree in Computer Science or a related field, combined with at least 7 years of DevOps experience involving automated build, test, and deployment tools and environments.
• Proven experience automating application deployments on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Demonstrated experience writing infrastructure as code using Terraform.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting using Bash and PowerShell.
• Familiarity with GitHub or similar orchestration tools.
• Solid understanding and experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) methodologies.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
