Full Job Description

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team in Pune, India. In this role, you will be instrumental in owning and evolving our DevOps platform as a product, defining its roadmap, ensuring adherence to SLAs, establishing standards, and creating optimal pathways for multiple development teams. You will design, build, and maintain robust multi-stage YAML CI/CD pipelines incorporating reusable templates, environment approvals, pull request validation, and automated rollback strategies (blue/green, canary). A significant part of your responsibility will be developing and governing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, including authoring and reviewing modules, managing remote state and workspaces, integrating Terraform into CI/CD pipelines, and implementing drift detection and remediation.

You will enhance delivery security and stability by implementing guardrails such as SonarQube, Black Duck/SCA, and IaC scanning, enforcing least-privilege service connections, and utilizing policy-as-code. Enabling development teams at scale will involve onboarding squads to the platform, conducting office hours, creating comprehensive playbooks and runbooks, and providing hands-on support for pipeline and infrastructure challenges. You will also manage release processes, drive release readiness, coordinate freezes and approvals, ensure change management compliance, and execute production deployments.

Key responsibilities include establishing and monitoring observability and reliability through logging, metrics, and tracing implementation, defining SLOs and alerts, leading incident response and post-mortems, and tracking corrective actions. You will act as a steward for cost and capacity, applying tagging and FinOps practices, setting budgets and alerts, optimizing resource utilization, and planning for future capacity needs. Security and compliance will be a core focus, partnering with the Security team to meet ISO/SOC controls, manage secrets, remediate vulnerabilities, and support audits by providing necessary evidence.

Continuous improvement will be driven by measuring and enhancing DORA metrics, Mean Time To Recovery (MTTR), lead time, and flaky test rates, while actively working to eliminate bottlenecks through automation. Collaboration and mentoring are essential; you will review pipeline and Terraform changes, coach other engineers, and effectively communicate risks, timelines, and trade-offs to Product, QA, and Leadership. Fostering a documentation culture is also critical, maintaining concise standards, templates, runbooks, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).

What you need:

  • 6+ years of DevOps/SRE experience, with at least 3 years specifically focused on Azure and Azure DevOps at scale.
  • A proven history of owning CI/CD and IaC platforms for multiple development teams, ensuring consistent, secure, and rapid delivery.
  • Experience in designing and operating production-grade releases (blue/green, canary, rollback), incident response, and post-mortems.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2), change management processes, and audit readiness.

Technical Skills:

  • Azure-first: Proficiency in VNets (hub-spoke, peering, Private Link), App Gateway/Front Door, Key Vault, ACR, App Service/Functions, AKS, Log Analytics/App Insights, and Entra ID (AAD) with RBAC.
  • Azure DevOps (YAML) CI/CD: Expertise in multi-stage pipelines, reusable templates, environments/approvals, PR validation & gated checks, artifact management, versioning, and automated rollback.
  • IaC with Terraform: Strong experience in module design & versioning, remote state management (Azure Storage) with locking, workspaces, pipeline-driven plan/apply, and secrets management via Key Vault.
  • Containers/Kubernetes: Solid understanding of Docker, Helm, image promotion across environments, and basics of SBOM/signing.
  • Quality & Security in pipeline: Experience with SonarQube, Black Duck/SCA; implementing least-privilege service connections; familiarity with Defender for Cloud/Policy.
  • Observability & Reliability: Hands-on experience with tools like New Relic / DataDog, Azure Monitor & App Insights, setting up alerting/SLOs, and performance/capacity tuning, including RCA practices.
  • Scripting & Tooling: Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, and at least one of Python/Go; strong Git workflows/branching; experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to design and implement CI/CD pipelines for various application stacks (.NET, Java, Python, etc.) using tools like Azure DevOps / Jenkins.

Soft Skills:

  • An ownership mindset with a strong platform/product orientation, capable of defining clear SLAs and standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and structured debugging skills across application, infrastructure, and pipeline layers.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Product, Security, and Engineering teams, including diverse, distributed groups.
  • A passion for mentorship and knowledge sharing (playbooks, runbooks, brown-bags), driving continuous improvement through metrics like DORA and MTTR.

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Required: Microsoft AZ-400 Certification.
