Senior Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer with a focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to join our team in Pune, India. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and completeness of CFD analysis for various vehicle engineering challenges. You will collaborate closely with internal customers to identify opportunities for aerothermal design improvements, aiming to significantly reduce prototype costs, testing efforts, and development timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define simulation problems, ensuring the appropriateness and adequacy of the simulation scope and correctness of CFD analysis.
• Proactively seek opportunities to lead aerothermal design initiatives that result in substantial cost and time savings.
• Interpret CFD results for external aerodynamics, water dirt management, thermal management, and heat exchanger performance to identify issues and propose cost-effective solutions.
• Generate accurate and detailed reports of CFD results, providing recommendations and design directions for product enhancement.
• Utilize simulation techniques to ensure robust and optimized designs.
• Collaborate with the design team to develop feasible design solutions for identified risks.
• Support investigations into performance issues identified during physical validation by providing in-depth physics understanding and performing test-vs-CFD correlation analysis to fine-tune models.
• Contribute to the vehicle development process to meet project deadlines.
• Maintain a continuous focus on emerging trends in Aerothermal and CFD techniques to leverage the benefits of the latest technologies.
• Drive process automation to productionize new capabilities and develop new process documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree (M.Tech) or post-graduation in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• A minimum of 2.5 years of experience in vehicle-level CFD analysis, specifically for aerodynamics, underhood thermal, and water dirt management.

Primary Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of pre-processing tools such as ANSA and HM.
• Proficiency in CFD solvers and post-processing tools including Fluent Ansys, Dassault Powerflow, and Altair NanoFluidX.

Secondary Skills:

• Excellent communication skills, planning abilities, and a commitment to timely project delivery.

Domain Knowledge:

• Extensive understanding of model clean-up and CFD mesh generation (surface and volume).
• Expertise in executing and analyzing CFD load cases for external aero, underhood thermal, and water dirt management domains.
• Proven experience handling full vehicle-level load cases in solvers like Fluent, PowerFLOW, and Nano fluid X.
• Solid knowledge of mechanical and automotive engineering principles, fluid mechanics, advanced heat transfer, thermodynamics, and water dirt management, with a strong grasp of the vehicle development process.
• Deep understanding of finite volume methods, turbulence modeling, structured and unstructured grids, and wall functions.

Experience with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) is preferred.
