About the Role

HSBC seeks an experienced Senior Consultant Specialist / Senior Database Engineer to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of a multi-database ecosystem. This role involves managing relational (PostgreSQL), graph (TigerGraph), and cloud-hosted platforms like Cassandra and BigQuery.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL and Cassandra databases, including schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and high-availability configurations.
• Administer TigerGraph for graph modeling, GSQL development, and cluster management.
• Manage BigQuery datasets (partitioning, clustering, cost optimization).
• Monitor performance across all platforms to resolve bottlenecks, deadlocks, and slow queries.
• Own backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies while enforcing security policies and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on data modeling and query design.

To Be Successful:

You should have 7+ years of IT experience with strong DBA expertise. Hands-on skills in performance tuning, replication, vacuuming, partitioning, TigerGraph (GSQL), Cassandra, and GCP services are essential. Experience with Kubernetes/GKE and CI/CD is a plus.
