Morgan Stanley seeks a Senior Data Engineer (Senior Manager) - Parametric in Mumbai, India. This role involves managing and mentoring a team of data engineers, fostering growth, and driving team culture and objectives. Responsibilities include leading development projects through the entire lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, bug fixes, and enhancements. You will collaborate with team members to design and implement data solutions, ensuring alignment with project schedules. This includes coding, testing, and documenting new or modified data systems to build a robust and scalable data platform. Collaboration with developers is key to ensure data solution consistency. You will expand data platform capabilities to address new data challenges, create data flow diagrams for business systems, and implement security and recovery tools. The role requires designing logical models and implementing physical databases to support business needs. Developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining data applications is crucial. You will also design and implement data models in coordination with business stakeholders and project managers, resolving conflicts and ensuring consistency with the ecosystem model. Modeling best practices in data management, leading or participating in data management policy creation, refinement, management, and enforcement are expected. Evaluating future technologies and new releases/upgrades, and contributing to business continuity and disaster recovery requirements for data systems are also part of the role. Minimum qualifications include 3+ years in the Financial Services Industry, 3+ years managing a development team of more than 3 individuals, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering (or equivalent work experience), and 9+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or software engineering. Specific technical requirements include 4+ years of experience with Snowflake, 4+ years of experience in AWS (or similar cloud technologies) cloud stack (S3, IAM, Athena, SNS, SQS, EMR), and 7+ years of SQL Server experience with tools like SSIS and SSRS. Programming experience in Python and Linux bash, capability of architecting highly scalable distributed systems using open-source tools, demonstrated experience with agile or other rapid application development methods, and experience with object-oriented design, coding, and testing patterns are essential. Expertise in engineering software platforms and data infrastructures, expert knowledge of data modeling and understanding of data structures, and experience using Big Data batch and streaming tools are required. The role demands the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, communicate efficiently with business users, stakeholders, and developers, and create strong work ethics, foster open dialogue, and promote individual and team success. A Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or similar, and certifications in AWS or Snowflake are considered a plus.
